School for 2,000 Students
A four-storey educational campus for 2,000 students in Baku's Khutor district, designed in response to Baku's 2040 master plan — which projects the area as high-density residential — and to the chronic overcapacity of every existing school within a 500 m radius.
On a 2.9-hectare site, two linked teaching corpora — Grades 1–5 (8,776 m²) and Grades 5–11 (11,341 m²) — wrap around a calm inner courtyard anchored by a single sakura and a circular concrete seating ring. Programme is grouped into administration, conference, education, sports and library zones; the front facade faces the public forecourt while the rear opens onto a stepped stone amphitheatre and a 25 × 40 m football pitch. A four-storey glazed atrium pulls daylight deep into the corridors and a brick volume on the street side breaks the long stone facade. The project leans on natural materials and a uniform 3,600 mm floor-to-floor — a quiet, modern-minimalist counterpoint to the dense residential blocks rising around it.
